Drawing for Presentation

I did some drawings for a presentation at work. I won't tell you the context - but this was my favourite!

So Long! Farewell!

Hahahahahahaha! This is a pretty weird update, eh? So, for the last two and a half years, I've been working somewhere. I've never liked writing about work on the blog but today was my last day before taking time out to work on some comics and things - so it seems appropriate to mark the occassion with a comic. I even sent this one round to people as part of my goodbye email.

This has been the first real job I've had and it's been full of all sorts of ups and downs - possibly too many to list. BUT! The best thing about my time here is meeting some of the nicest people ever. Seriously - there are people here who I am incredibly excited about knowing and I can't wait to see lots of them outside of a working context.

So yeah. Despite my best attempts, they got a card signed and got me cakes and decorated a room with my pictures and I got a little teary. I also sweated a lot and am a bit stinky. Oh dear. I hope this distracted from the teary eyes.

So, if I could write two letters right now they would read as follows:

LETTER ONE:

Dear People Who Have Been Nice

I've really enjoyed spending time with you. Thanks for looking after me and I officially hope we can still be friends even if I'm in a different office.

LETTER TWO:

Dear The Future
You scare me but I can't wait to meet you. Be nice to me, yeah?

Thanks for everything Nice People!

NOTE: I updated this from my desk at work. This was done as a mark of respect.

Boo hoo!

Hello

I try not to talk about my proper job in case someone reads it and I get told off...but tomorrow is my friend's last day in the office before he goes adventuring. I am sad about this for a number of reasons...but I got a funny cartoon out of it...so in your face! I even put my name at the bottom so I could print it out and give him a copy and he'd remember me.

FUN FACT: I had a lot of trouble trying to find a funny end insult that was inoffensive. I had to reject "turd weasel" and "cum dumpster" in case anyone got upset.

UPSETTING FACT: I had a weird out whilst pencilling in my initial grid. So, instead of all the panels being the same size, I drew slightly diagonal lines instead of vertical ones. I think they're about 5mm out. So if it looks a little skew-whiff then don't panic (like I did) - your eyes aren't about to explode - it's just my poor measuring. I suck.

Bye work guy! I will miss you!

Au Revoir

You know who you are and you know why you're leaving but I hope we can still be friends and what not.

Friendly Faces: Victoria

Hello!

There is a nice person at work who is called Victoria. She's always nice to me so I made this picture for her... It may make her seem like a massive beeyotch but she'll think it's funny.

Hmmmmm

Someone at work told me I'm "aggressivly friendly."

I don't know how to feel about that...

Goodbye Sinister Cat

Hello!

Remember Fishman and Honest Abe? Of course you do. They came about after a co-worker (sometimes known as Sinister Cat) mistook a dinosaur and a piece of toast for a...well, a fish/man hybrid and an American President.

Anyways. I like the Sinister Cat a lot and it turns out that as of Friday we will no longer be working together because he's off to pastures new where he will dazzle people by being charming and brilliant.

So here is a picture just for him. I changed both Fishman and Abe from their previous incarnations into Dudes. Rad! I put a fancy printed version in a nice frame and will give it to him tomorrow.

Goodbye Sinister Cat! Thanks for everything!

Fishman & Honest Abe

I pretty much heart my job and the people I work with are the bee's knees... So today, I proudly showed off my blogging handywork to a co-worker. However, when it came to reading the strip where Christina asks a crying Toby how he is...well...it sort of went wrong.

Instead of reading a comic about a dinosaur and a floating piece of toast (in glasses), he interpreted it as a conversation between "a fishman and Abraham Lincoln."

I was a little distraught although now he's said it, that's all I can see.

To ease the emotional fallout, I created two new characters just for him. Please say hi to Fishman and Abraham Lincoln!

Fishman is a thirty-something salary man. He has a pretty bad memory but he works hard to support his family back home. He isn't a great communicator and doesn't know what to do when the pretty girl from the 7th floor starts making smoochy faces at him.

Abraham Lincoln is the 16th President of the United States of America. He is really proud of his beard but is a little weirded out by being on Mount Rushmore. He has a fondness for good tailoring.

What wacky adventures will they get up to? Only time will tell!
