Frobisher Says!

Hello hello!

A while ago, I was asked by some delightful people whether I would do some drawings for a computer game on the fancy new PS Vita. Obviously I wet myself and screamed "OMG! YES PLEASE!!!" and that's where this story begins.

The delightful people in question were HoneySlug and Mr Richard Hogg and they were working on something that would eventually become Frobisher Says. The game is a series of exciting mini games that cover everything from winking at badgers (or not winking at badgers), drying a sausage dog or smashing eggs. I've played it! It's lots of fun! Other people have played too it too! They also think it's lots of fun! Even my pal who hates everything has been saying how ace it is.



FACT: Once you're familiar with each game, try playing it in a foreign language!

I drew three different games. It was a really interesting experience because the brief was pretty loose. So, although I knew there was egg on a branch, it was up to me to decide what that egg looked like. Here is one of my early sketches!

In fact, doing sketches was a whole new world for me. It isn't something I really do normally. And also, I drew everything on different layers so everything could be animated afterwards. It turns out that this was useful training for a later project but that can wait for another blog.

I don't know whether it is available in the US or Japan...but it came with pre-ordered Vita consoles over here in England. I think it is available for downloading from the store in May. I've only written about one of the games here so that the other two will be a surprise!

I was so thrilled to be asked that I did some Frobisher Says fan art! I hope Frobisher likes it!

I don't think Frobisher ever says "spook that spectre," but if I designed a game for him then it would defo involve doing just that!

Julie #1

It's Thursday. No wizards for you! Instead, you get to meet my friend Julie. Julie and I met years ago when I kept calling her the wrong name by mistake. She is lovely and came to visit last week and we had a great time. But no one wants to read about great times so I decided that the drawn-version of Julie is quite mean. I cleared it with Real Julie so it's fine.

IN OTHER NEWS: Here is a drawing I made for a friend's Christmas prize! I think it went down well and I was really happy with how it turned out. It's just as well we are both happy though since I worked hard on it.

Wizarding Wednesday #11 (and my 400th blog post?!)

Hello! It's Wednesday which means we can expect a visit from those wizards. I'm starting to really like the wizards. In fact, and this is some exciting stuff, they will probably be here next week too! Also, they will be bringing friends along too! You've already met one of them for the Christmas one - who you'll be seeing a lot more if everything goes to plan...

Oh - it's all sort mysterious.

IN OTHER NEWS: I'm back at work. And I'm determined to get into a proper/respectable sleeping routine. No more 3am bedtimes for me! Although, it meant I got lots of drawing done...

Real Life: Mike Dolphino returns!

Hahahaha - that's right! Mike Dolphino is back! You can remind yourself about how great he is over here... although maybe you should make sure he isn't already in your trousers?

Anyways. Wednesday zoomed by. I had wizards in the back of my mind though which was annoying. But I had a really nice voicemail from an old friend and then I met up with some friends. Good times!

Speaking of good times - I am so excited about Thought Bubble. It's getting a bit silly to be honest.

But other exciting things!

First up: the lovely Dan Fish reviewed People I Know #11 and said nice things. You can read it here! Thanks Dan! My favourite quote is "There’s all this, and a makeover montage you simply must not miss."

Next up is the amazing Paper Science 3 - the first time I've been in a Paper Science thing! They'll be available at Thought Bubble so what are you waiting for? Oh! And my entry is a bit rude - but here's a sneak peek:

Someone wrote this in an email to me and I got a little emotional. So I made them a picture! It's meant to be a Q quote from James Bond but I think they paraphrased. Still - I like this version better - and I hope you do too!

Captain Picard Day 2010

Captain Picard Day was yesterday and the very talented Rosemary Travale asked people for drawing and what not to celebrate it. Here is my contribution - look at little Wesley Crusher!

Today waried between stressful and surreal. it ended in burgers with a pal though so that's good.

IN OTHER NEWS: I am working on a print-on-demand book! I want to finish it by end of Summer. It's just going to be drawings and stuff...but is there anything in particular you'd like to see? What I guess I mean is: what would a book have to involve for you to want to buy it?

My Cardboard Life: Lady Gaga

The third, final and fanciest of my drawings for My Cardboard Life's 300th Fiesta. I hope you like it! There are some *amazing* comics taking part - it's a real opener and I'm really glad I took part.

In other news: Mister Computer needs to go back to Computer Hospital. I called the Computer Medics and they said they'll possibly have to wipe everything - which is a bit sad but I backed up a while ago so phew. Also, I'm still a little sad but I have a plan! It involves a fair few risky things but fingers crossed. I mean, the risky stuff is my backup plan - I'll try a sensible route first and hope for the best.

I'm working on a new mini comic about magic. It won't be ready in time for MCM Expo but it will totally be done for whenever my next event is. OH! And I've got a fun upload coming soon so stay tuned. It has lasers in it!

Happy 200th Blog Post!

Hahahahahaha. This is my 200th post here - and I totally wasn't prepared. Oh dear. So here's a drawing with two of my favourite things in it - Jessica "Sexpot" Fletcher and Mystery Inc.

I've spent the ENTIRE WEEKEND drawing for some exciting projects. I was up until 4am on Saturday and today was lots of sewing and stuff.

Good news: I have met some nice people! It's like having friends!

Bad news: I'm knackered!

The Annotated Weekender

There's a blog called The Annotated Weekender where a man that can properly draw does proper drawings over the magazine part of the Guardian.

It's funny and great and to celebrate the blog's birthday, it was open to regular people... regular people like me!

So I totally gave it a go (which is pretty brave for me) and you can see the results over here... On the downside - I'm sandwiched between talented folk, so my piss jokes look extra rubbish.

But there's always next year. I promise to be much better next year. You won't even recognise me/my drawings! Maybe I'll learn to draw hands or something?!

Generic Princess Wants Stuff!

Yeah yeah yeah - I was totally ill and it was gross but now I'm out of bed and I made something so shut your cake hole. Or something.

So...remember that drawing I made for Ben? Well, I posted it on his Facebook wall and a lady that I don't know wrote the following:

"I work with Ben, I LOVE your cartoon, please can you make one for me? I feel awfully left out!

I am a Jewish Princess and I love my dog Poppy Ann Dupree, I also love sushi and wine...lots of wine!"

It's always nice when people engage with you and don't call you fat so I totally decided to do it. The only problems (besides that whole 'being ill' portion of the week where I couldn't eat anything and had a cracking headache) was that:

1. how rude can you be if you don't know the person you're making stuff for?
2. how do you draw dogs? I mean, I can't draw even hands - how should I even approach dog drawing?
3. what if they don't like it?

I'm not going to try and answer any of those questions but I've posted the finished product so I hope the lady likes it.

SECRET PROJECT: Piney Gir Artwork

So I took the afternoon off work and the majority of my plans went hideously wrong...except that I got my hands on the CD that I did the artwork for! HOORAY!

Say hello to the latest CD single by Piney Gir - the song is called "Say I'm Sorry."

Here is a rubbish picture from my fancy phone:

I had a pretty tough time making them because the printing people needed fancy files and had templates and things - none of which I'm that up on. However, it came out right. Seriously - it's on fancy paper and there's a real case and it has a CD inside and my pictures are all over it. Also, it is officially the first big project undertaken on Mister Computer. Well done Mister Computer!

The theme was "cheerleaders on rockets."

FUN FACT: There is no purple in the pictures.

TRUE FACT: I don't know when it'll be up on iTunes or anything but you could probably get a copy by emailing Piney herself. Or email me! I have some! Speaking of me - it's bed time.

NOSE REPORT: 100% GROSS

Hello

So I spent my day feeling like a cold bag of sick. My nose (and possibly brain) appear to be FULL OF SNOT! Boo hoo hoo. Still, I had some last minute work to do for an amazing person's upcoming amazing project...and I had to learn some new skills for it (skillz?) and now I feel really grim. I hope I did it proud. I also hope I feel better soon.

Here is a picture that came about today. It's not like one of the drawings I normally make as it's really just a lowly component for something bigger - but I'm proud of it because it caused be a bumload amount of grief to make. An actual bumload.

Must email the project over for review - then bedtime!

Sleepy

Hello. I should be in bed but I had to do some stuff for Dark Beige... I guess that being sleepy is the price one must pay to be involved in such an awesome blog.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I wanted to do the drawings entirely on a tablet (Mr. COmputer's first job!) but I couldn't sort it out. Then I couldn't find my pencil case! Hence all the lateness. Boo hoo.
