The Ballad of Barbara - page 24 + 25 - THE END!

So yeah - here are the last two pages of The Ballad of Barbara. Personally I feel like the story works better in print but I hope you've enjoyed reading it anyways. I will look into doing something like this again but maybe with a story that's made with the Internet in mind. Or maybe I won't! I guess we'll have to wait and see?

Anyways - let me know your thoughts and tell me all the hot gossip!

Also - here are all the page updates on this blog and here's the first page if you want to read it all again

IN OTHER NEWS: I'm excited about tomorrow's drawing. It may or may not involve Lady Gaga! Woo!

The Ballad of Barbara - page 22 + 23

I think this might be the penultimate update of The Ballad of Barbara? Oh. Em. Gee! It has been a very interesting experience and I've learnt a lot about stuff by doing it. And I've got a super special back-to-normal drawing to upload on Friday.

So yeah - today has been pretty grim. I'm feeling pretty rough - all headachey and gross and snotty. Boo hoo hoo.

FUN FACT: Lots of issues of People I Know involve a phonecall. I don't know why.

The Ballad of Barbara - page 20 + 21

The Ballad of Barbara is drawing to a close - I think there are only 25 pages or something. I've learnt lots and can't wait to put it into practice.

FUN FACT: The line "did a whoopsie" is my favourite line in the entire issue. It still makes me laugh and it perfectly sums up everything you need to know about Barbara.

Read the previous pages here!

IN OTHER NEWS: I think I'm coming down wih a cold since I appear to be creating enough snot to power a small country (if any small country is powered by snot). How grim. Still - I've had a really laid back day...because I am CLEARLY ill. Boo hoo.

IN OTHER OTHER NEWS: I made an animation for work ages ago and now I've put the song I made on my Tumblr. I hope you like it. Do you like it? Can we be friends now?

The Ballad of Barbara - page 18 + 19

Peepo! I'm totally back home! The last few days deserve their own blog post and their own drawings...but - -

IN A NUTSHELL: It was amazing and exhausting and intense and brilliant. I met a bunch of amazing people, I stayed out late, I went to places I've never been to before, I learnt some stuff and I'm feeling terribly inspired... I've got a lot to achieve in the next few months!

And here is the tag for the previous pages...

How are you?

The Ballad of Barbara - page 15, 16 + 17

If you're reading this then HOORAY! I'm typing it on Wednesday and hoping the computer will upload it on Friday if I ask nicely. Tune in next week to see what happens next... in both the comic and my life!

The Ballad of Barbara - page 12, 13 + 14

So...I often type these out in the evening and ask the computer to upload them in the morning. But! I'm going to be elsewhere for the next few days so things might be odd.

To stop you from hating me, here are three new pages from The Ballad of Barbara! I'll ask the computer to do the same for Friday but I don't know what to do about my proper website. Either way, I hope you're enjoying the story. Things are starting to heat up now.

IN OTHER NEWS: I went to see the Scott Pilgrim movie and rather enjoyed it. I'll write a review or something?

So yeah...it's a mega early start tomorrow. I got a new tote bag, umbrella and sketchbook... PLUS! there will be socialising! With other people! Wish me luck!

The Ballad of Barbara - page 10 + 11

What's that? You're starting to get involved with the story and the main character? Well, good. That's what I was hoping for.

FUN FACT: I drew this years ago but I remember being really really proud of how cute Barbara looked in the swimming pool and how funny I thought it was that she was scared of the water. I was so easily pleased/amused back then...

The Ballad of Barbara - page 8 + 9

Ahoy there! Monday was one of those days where nothing is easy and everything goes wrong. I didn't enjoy it. Not one bit. I'm sorry if we spoke and I was mean or crying... I think I just woke up on the wrong side of bed. On the plus side, I...um...nope - no plus side.

However! Barbara the squid-girl is having a great time! What's going to happen next? Why, come back tomorrow! Or just ask me?

The Ballad of Barbara - page 6 + 7

Good Day! The weekend has been and gone...and what a funny one it was! I spent Saturday doing mundane things like cutting out shapes from felt and throwing things away. Sunday was spent at Comiket doing stuff for We Are Words + Pictures. Fun times! I spoke to lots of people with their drawings and I hope I was helpful.

This week is a bit of a weird one. I'm going away on Thursday for a sort-of-work-thing. It's a bit of a big deal so I'm nervous and excited. And I'm getting a train there! But it means that Thursday and Friday's posts might have to be picture-only...if they even happen - since I'll be away from my computer and I don't have a laptop.

BUT! As a reward, I'll upload TWO pages from The Ballad of Barbara for the rest of the week. I'm still working on some new stuff so there is still more fun stuff to come. So far there are babies and brooding heroes and Ke$ha and Lady Gaga and some knights!

More importantly, how are you?

The Ballad of Barbara - page 5

So...The first week of Project: Long Comic is over. It has been an interesting week. It's been a bit cringey to post old drawings but I think it holds up OK. My initial feeling is that it works better in print but maybe that's because this comic has a pretty slow start. If I was to do it again then I'd make sure that each page was a lot more jam-packed.

IN OTHER NEWS: I'll be helping out at an event! Can you believe it! It's in London and all about Hypercomics. I'll be drawing stuff and you could draw stuff. We could draw stuff together! Come along! All the information can be found here.

IN OTHER OTHER NEWS: I'm working on new covers for some of my mini comics with an eye of sending them off to shops. Maybe. I don't know. Probably not. But it means that it should be printed in time for MCM in October...or at least Thought Bubble in November. HOORAY!

Have a lovely weekend!

The Ballad of Barbara - page 4

Hello! The Balled of Barbara continues - it's page four now and she's got to school!

IN HINDSIGHT: Since this was my first proper foray into computer-aided drawing (using the Fill button), I was excited at the idea of be able to use the same drawing for two panels. Now I just look at it and cringe. Although I remember being really proud of how cool the group of pupils looked.

Don't forget, you can use The Ballad of Barbara tag to catch up if you're behind.

The Ballad of Barbara - page 2

So it's part two of my gran experiment - uploading a a series of pages from a comic I drew!

I'll be using The Ballad of Barbara as the tag on this blog in case you've missed anything... Oh! And let me know what you think. Unless you're a spambot. In which case, leave me alone!

The Ballad of Barbara - page 1

So...as discussed, here is the first page of People I Know #3... although I've renamed it "The Ballad of Barbara" since it's online and everything online needs a catchy title. See: two girls one cup, LOLcats etc etc

I made this comic a few years ago and although it looks pretty different to how I do stuff now, it's very much got a similar tone. Don't believe me? Well, just stick about!

IN OTHER NEWS: I had a really lovely Saturday at the WAW+P Drawing Party. I did some drawing, ate some cake and actually talked to people. Then I did some Real Job work in the evening. I forgot how to edit on Final Cut Pro so there was a fair bit of swearing. Sunday was spent cutting out owls, watching a Catherine Cookson movie (my new favourite things to watch!) and daydreaming. It's nice to go into the new week with a smile on my face.
